All that is behind a Procida WED # 3 Martina and Julian

First email on 21 September 2019, first inspection on the island of Procida the following month.
Three inevitable date changes and one great joy on the day of their Yes, August 28, 2021.
Martina and Julian, Swiss architects, with their wonderful family and friends from all over the world, in the presence of three witnesses and two celebrants in a bucolic location, intertwined the ribbons and their lives. The Fil Rouge imprinted in a wonderful artistic project was represented by the iconic Procidane houses painted in pastel colors, delicious favors and wonderful place marks. Procida has also enchanted for its traditional cuisine: the flavors of the island’s land and sea are on the table.

101 reason to get married in Procida: #11 to dive among the balloons

Our column continues: 101 reasons to get married in Procida. The eleventh reason is to immerse yourself in the many balloons. Of every shape, of every color, of every type, suitable for every age, for every event there is no party without balloons!

In our last Wedding, the protagonists of Barbara and Pietro’s most beautiful day were them, the balloons together with sunflowers and lemons.
White balloons, strictly biodegradable, accompanied the couple’s exit from the beautiful church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, freeing themselves in a warm June sky.

A composition of yellow, white and pink balloons with flowers and lemons also adorned the table of the newlyweds, two young travelers who landed on the island with the sole desire to get married by the sea. Pastel-colored balloons decorated a magnificent swing, made by Bodeguita del Mar, ready to support a Lemon Delight: a wedding cake made in Procida.

… and finally, released into the air, many pink balloons that announced the arrival of a little princess, leaving everyone, family and friends, surprised and full of joy!

But are you sure you really know what’s behind a Procida WED? We present, in short, the Destination Wedding of Barbara & Pietro, travelers who landed in Procida with the sole desire to get married by the sea. Two determined young spouses who have moved 69 guests from 4 different countries, scattered on the island in 25 accommodation facilities. Two spouses in love with whom we have planned, organized and rescheduled their best day again, exchanging 350 emails and an infinite number of Whatsapp messages. Two accomplices who have reached an exceptional location with an ape car and a vintage van (driven by the bride) and accompanied by an aperitif. A boat, 3 photographers and 3 videographers ready to immortalize their day of love. 800 balloons, a big surprise all in pink and 250 songs played! One great emotion!

The ninth reason to get married in Procida is to say yes overlooking the sea.

Located in the historic center of the island at the foot of the village of Terra Murata, the church of Santissima Maria delle Grazie Incoronata has welcomed many married couples who have chosen Procida for their Destination Wedding.

The large yellow and gray dome that surmounts the sanctuary dominates Marina di Corricella, the famous fishing village dotted with colorful houses.
The church was built in 1679 at the behest of Cardinal Innico Caracciolo in the square that was once called Semmarezio and which today is instead Piazza dei Martiri. The place was the scene, in 1799, of a ferocious repression of the faithful supporters of the Republic of Procida.

The interior of the church of S. Maria delle Grazie is covered with floral designs and eighteenth-century stuccoes; on the central altar there is a canvas depicting the Madonna delle Grazie in gold and silver, an effigy donated by the Procidans in 1854.

To restore its deserved beauty to the sanctuary, a fundraiser is underway to renovate the parish rectory to make it spacious and ready to welcome the community. Thanks to all who will participate! To find out more, visit the official website.

The seventh reason to get married in Procida is to visit the places where Massimo Troisi set his latest film.

Sixty-eight years ago, in San Giorgio a Cremano, Massimo Troisi was born who, in 1994, will set his latest film in Procida: Il Postino, by Michael Radford.

The story, inspired by the novel of the same name by Antonio Skàrmeta, tells the events of Mario Ruoppolo, a young postman with a low vocation for the sea, and his friendship with Pablo Neruda, exiled and confined to the fishermen’s island where Mario lives with his family.

From the Chilean writer Mario will learn, day after day, his political commitment but above all the art of storytelling and poetry, giving voice to his feelings to win the heart of the beautiful Beatrice, whom he will marry.

With an exciting ending, music and evocative landscapes, in 1994 Procida hosted its first major film set, soon becoming known all over the world as the L’isola del Postino.

The Pozzovecchio beach, the narrow streets and the iconic colorful fishermen’s houses of the Corricella district lend themselves as a natural setting for what will be the last masterpiece of Massimo Troisi, the great Neapolitan actor with comic verve who died a few days away from last take.
